Hogenakkal is called as India's Niagara, a water fall on the Kaveri river in TamilNadu-Karnataka border. This is a must see place where you can spend a whole day enjoying the nature(we returned back by 1PM as it was getting too hot). The coracle ride is simply awesome, you can go very near to the waterfalls. You will get fresh fish fried on the shores of the river. If you want, you can take a bath in the river.

Carry food and water as there is no descent hotels available. Also carry a waterproof bag to protect your belongings as the coracle guys take you very near to the water fall.

Note: The place is not maintained properly, you can see food and plastic waste everywhere. This place will be too crowded in summer. Also, this place lacks lifeguards, its your responsibility to take care of your kids.

Best time to visit Hogenakkal is soon after the monsoon but if you want to enjoy the coracle ride, plan a trip in summer.

Some snaps taken using my Nikon Coolpix.
